What is Fluoroscopy?

Fluoroscopy is an x‐ray procedure that produces live pictures that appear on a screen instead of taking a permanent still picture. This allows the radiologist to observe how an organ performs its normal function; for example, how the esophagus works during swallowing.

Please ensure the following steps are followed. They will serve to prepare you for your examination and/or procedure.

  • Appointment required for this procedure
  • Most Fluoroscopy examinations will require preparation such as fasting or bowel preparation
  • You will be advised of the appropriate preparation when you make your appointment
